At 10:00 of December 15, the first 17.5K Chemical Tanker (TK1201) built for foreign owner was successfully docked-out. Shipyard Executive Deputy General Manager, Mr. Cai Aiguo and other shipyard leaders attended the dock out together with representatives from the Owner and Class.

17.5K Chemical Tanker is a new type of Vessel built by Kouan Shipyard with main particulars as: Loa: 156.5M; Lbp: 151M; Bm: 23.8M; Dm: 13.8M; Scantling Draft: 9.5M; Design Speed: 13 Knots, Class: DNV-GL, and in compliance with the 1A ice class and coated cargo holds, which is suitable for carrying various II chemicals and crude oil & product oil simultaneously and equipped with advanced equipment and integrated operation system with characters of energy saving and environmental friendly.

Shipyard attached great importance to the Vessel due to the difficulties both in technical and construction aspects. To smoothly the production of the vessel, several Technical thematic trainings were held concerning techniques of hull construction, welding of stainless steel, installation of shaft Generator and Feeder Container etc; with the target of timely production schedule, relevant departments strictly control every step from steel cut, block construction, outfitting, blasting and painting to pipe pre-fabrication etc to ensure the construction precise as well as the quality. To change the previous inspection pattern with the sequence from stern to bow to adopt focusing on blasting tank, then diffuse to cargo holds which create the opportunity for the tightness test of whole ballasting tank; In consideration of the character of thin plate and high proportion of full penetration weld, a brainstorm team was set up to ensure the quality of welding by bravely adopt welding with round backing. With the implementation of the work ethic of “Try to do everything good, every day good to build our Kouan brand” and the promotion of working style of “dedication and endeavor”, many difficulties occurred during construction were conquered, which laid foundation for this on-time dock out.

In recent years, shipyard, with its always adhering to the business concept of “Quality First and Reputation First”, has successfully explored high value-added and high technology content products such as Chemical Tanker and duel fuel vessel on the basis of nontraditional market share on Bulk Carrier, Multi-purpose Vessel, Container Vessel and Ferries remained. The successful dock out of this Tanker indicate the staged breakthrough of product’s upgrade and “Two High”.
